| Bach Flower Remedies

Bach flower remedies are a perfect adjunct to nutritional therapy. Where nutritional therapy treats the cause of disease and gets to the root of the problem, the flower remedies treat the whole person and not the symptoms. Where nutritional therapy mainly treats the body, the flower remedies treat the mind. Dr. Edward Bach was of the opinion that our physical health very much depends upon our way of thinking, our feelings and our emotions. When we are positive, constructive and living in harmony we experience good health. When we have negative or destructive thoughts, we can become ill. Dr. Bach carried out his research in the 1930’s and it is interesting to notice that science is now verifying what he discovered (although the ancients and indigenous peoples of the Earth have of course known about this for thousands of years). Our thoughts really do affect our bodies. The power of the mind is enormous.

Dr Bach discovered 38 flowers to treat the 38 negative states of mind that a person can suffer from. They can be used to treat feelings like fear, uncertainty, loneliness and depression. They are non-invasive, easy to administer. You can put drops in your food or drink; and you can even use them to treat your animals and plants! For example, if you have a nervous or jumpy horse you might give them Mimulus, which is for the fear of known things. If you have just re-potted a plant you might put Walnut in its water (as Walnut is the remedy for change and helps one to settle into a new environment- also useful for children just starting school or for someone with a new job). You have probably all heard of Rescue Remedy, which can be very useful if you have had a shock or an accident- or if you have a nerve-wracking job interview. The flower remedies work very subtly, allowing change to take place as and where it is needed.

Animal Healing
It seems only common sense that, in terms of optimum health, what applies to humans must also apply to our animal friends. To keep an animal healthy, it makes sense to look at its diet, check out its surroundings and lifestyle and to make sure it is emotionally happy.
As with humans, one needs to identify the main areas of stress in an animal's life. Once these are known we can take steps to bring these stressful elements into balance by making lifestyle and dietary changes, clearing them and their living space of negative energies, giving them some healing or making use of the flower remedies.
These principles apply to all animals, so whether you have a horse, elephant or hamster, I should be able to help!

About the artist Lucie Walker
I have lived in Saul for ten years, where I have a small holistic healing
practice, specialising in Nutritional therapy. I have always been a keen
artist and, having been inspired by the artist Christine Barnett, have produced
the paintings here today.

About the paintings
Having struggled initially with watercolour to produce lasting vibrant,
colourful paintings, I had a breakthrough when I discovered water based
oils. It is easy to get the vibrancy and depth of colour that I want with
these oils, something which I couldn’t get with watercolour. I love the
brightness, vividness and sheer joy of the colour. It’s great fun experimenting
with the colours and I love to mess about with the juxtaposition of them.
I try to keep the paint fairly thin so that it flows easily as I love the
effect of `wet on wet`. However, in some paintings the paint is quite thick
and if I have used oil based oils the painting that you buy may still be
wet! The subject of the paintings is quite organic; I start off with a small
idea, start painting and then wait to see what develops. There are themes
to the paintings. I try to create scenes of peace, love, harmony and serenity.
I hope that my paintings bring healing and love into peoples’ lives, whilst
reminding us of our connection to Nature and the Universe.
Commissions
If you would like me to do a painting for you, or as a present for someone,
just let me know your favourite colours and thing. Maybe your painting is
needed for a purpose, like brightening up a room, or as a Christening or
birthday gift, or you may just want an angel to watch over you whilst you
sleep! The paintings are untitled but you can always name them yourself.
I painted an angel as a house warming present for a friend that she has
called "Josephine" after her own Guardian Angel. |
